Seeking Corporate Logo Design Services? Watch Out For These 3 Sly Catches!
Sunday, July 12th, 2009After going through the general procedures of getting started on a business, the time came to look at a corporate logo design. One important lesson I’ve learned when it comes to company logos is that it is not uncommon for people to judge a book by its cover. Thus, a corporate logo design should say as much as possible about a company.
Realizing this, the next thing to do was to identify an experienced logo design agency to produce a professional logo design that would help portray all the values my company stands for. However, I was not looking for a traditional corporate logo designer as a consequence of my budget and time constraint, but neither was I in search of an amateur. Luckily, the internet is laden with design companies whose work is quite good, as a matter of fact.
After scouring the web and sifting through circa 30 different design firms, I learned a few things. Arguably the most valuable thing I learned was always read the terms and conditions. Quite a few sites display attention grabbing headlines and prices but quite a number come with terms and conditions. Do not be taken by these sneaky tricks. Below are three of the most common ones.
Too few FREE Revisions
A lot of sites display evidently ridiculous low rates for their packages but a closer look would unveil the drawbacks. Some low price offers only come with just 2 free revisions or fewer. If the logo creator does not develop something that is to your liking within this window, you might probably end up having to spend extra until you you receive what you want. To make sure that you avoid this mess, always source for deals with unlimited revisions or a full satisfaction guarantee.
Price Only Includes Preliminary Designs
Quite a few logo design companies use this little trick as a way to squeeze a little extra money from many unsuspecting clients. The displayed amount only includes initial designs and does not include the final logos designs. Clients would have to foot extra if they want the finalized design. You can prevent this situation by making sure that the price displayed covers ownership of the finalized design.
Hi-res Files
This is just another means certain logo design companies trap you when you least expect it. This time, the price displayed covers everything from the initial concept designs to the finalized corporate logo design. The catch is it does not include hi-res files. You will find that hi-res files are essential for printing purposes especially for corporate stationary such as name cards and letterheads.
Do not get carried away with the low prices presented by a few logo design companies. If you think it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Do some groundwork just to be safe.
From the 30 or so design companies I looked at, many of them displayed fees ranging from $50 to $500 for their design services. I picked the one that costs around $70. It not really that difficult to find a professional logo design agency that’s not out to scam you. Just use the advice listed above and you should be alright.
